Ski Shop & Rental
Whether it's skis, snowboards, ski boots, helmets, or ski touring equipment – in our in-house ski shop & rental, you'll find everything you need for your active winter holiday! If you'd rather bring your own gear, you can also get winter servicing done on-site. You can store your skis and snowboards and dry your wet ski boots in the hotel's heated ski storage room. The free ski bus takes you directly from the hotel to the nearby ski resorts.
Our tip
Just leave the car behind: Our hotel is easily accessible by public transportation, such as train and bus. The nearest bus stop is just a few steps from the hotel! The closest airport is Salzburg Airport, located 86 km away. Plus, all our guests receive a 10% discount on the daily rate at the SIXT car rental.

Skiing
With 408 kilometers of slopes, 19 cable cars and lifts, and a long, snow-sure winter season from October/November to April, the Zell am See-Kaprun region is a paradise for winter sports enthusiasts. The free ski bus in front of the hotel takes guests to the nearby ski areas. Whether it's family-friendly or challenging runs, snow parks, freeride lines, or breathtaking views – it's all included!
Our tips
For the whole family: The Schmittenhöhe offers family-friendly slopes, cozy huts, a snow park, and Schmidolin's Dragon Park for the little skiers.
For hobby and professional athletes: At the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier, 61 kilometers of slopes in all difficulty levels, snow parks, and freeride lines await active vacationers looking for a challenge.
Ski Alpin Card: The Ski Alpin Card is valid for all three ski areas in the region – Schmittenhöhe, Kitzsteinhorn, and the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn.

Snowboarding
In addition to the perfectly groomed slopes, the ski areas in the region offer five cool freeride routes and fun slopes at an altitude of 3,000 meters, waiting to be conquered. Untouched terrain, impressive mountain peaks, and light powder provide action-packed descents for snowboarders and skiers alike, leaving you craving more. To ensure safety off the slopes, the info points and Freeride Info Base at the Alpincenter on the Kitzsteinhorn provide updates on current weather and snow conditions. You can also get riding technique and safety tips from local experts every week at Freeride Monday!

Ever tried night skiing? No? Then you have the chance to experience it on the Nightslope at Schmittenhöhe every Tuesday and Thursday evening!

Off the Slopes
Ski Touring
Carving your own path and enjoying the beauty of nature with all your senses, all to yourself – ski touring allows you to explore the region's mountains at your own pace. Whether it’s “The Snow Queen” or “The Icebreaker,” there are plenty of routes in Zell am See-Kaprun for both ski touring beginners and experienced adventurers. Certified mountain guides accompany those interested in discovering new powder and firn classics. The right equipment, preparation, and up-to-date snow conditions are key to a carefree touring experience.
Our tip
Every Wednesday evening, the slopes at Maiskogel are reserved exclusively for ski touring enthusiasts until 8 p.m.!

Wellness & Sauna
Is there anything better than unwinding in the hotel’s wellness area after an active day in the mountains? Our saunas, relaxation lounges, and whirlpool offer plenty of space to close your eyes and forget the stress of everyday life. In the heated indoor pool, you can swim leisurely laps or simply relax on one of the loungers. For a small fee, you can rent a wellness bag including a bathrobe and towel at reception.

Adrenaline Rush
Tandem Paragliding
Spectacular and an absolute highlight of your vacation is a tandem flight over the surrounding mountain scenery, Lake Zell, and the Hohe Tauern National Park. With the experienced and licensed pilots from Falken Air Tandem Paragliding, you’ll soar from the Schmittenhöhe and experience Salzburg’s region from a whole new perspective. It’s a unique experience for everyone, from young to old.
No prior knowledge is required, and you’ll receive the equipment on site. However, a bit of courage is necessary! Paragliding is also possible in winter, provided the wind and weather conditions are suitable.

Hot Air Ballooning
Looking for pure adventure during your winter vacation? If you’ve ever experienced a sunrise in the Alps from a hot air balloon, you’ll never forget this fascinating spectacle. Flights are launched in winter from Zell am See or Filzmoos, depending on the wind and weather conditions. From a height of over 3,000 meters, you can view the snowy mountain world from a completely new perspective.

Run Free
Cross-Country Skiing
With 107 kilometers of perfectly groomed trails, the Zell am See-Kaprun region offers a variety of options for both skate and classic cross-country skiers. For an easy start, you might try the Golf Course Trail or the Schüttdorf Trail. More experienced skiers can challenge themselves on the Schlossloipe in the Kaprun Moor, among other trails. Several trails are even illuminated and open for night skiing.
Never tried cross-country skiing but curious to give it a go? Simply rent the right equipment at our in-house ski shop. You can also learn the technique in our cross-country ski courses, taught by professionals. Courses are available as private lessons or in groups!
Ready, Set, Go!
Sledding
Did you know that the world’s longest illuminated toboggan run is right nearby? In Bramberg, you can take the Smaragdbahn up to an altitude of 2,100 meters and then toboggan 14 kilometers down to the valley under the lights! For a more relaxed experience, you can enjoy the Köhlergraben toboggan run or the popular year-round Alpine Coaster Maisi Flitzer, which offers plenty of fun and action on family-friendly runs.
In some sports shops in Zell am See, you can even rent sleds!

Exploration Tour
Winter Hiking
The snow crunches underfoot and the views of the snow-covered mountain landscape are breathtaking – hiking is a wonderful way to explore the region around the mighty Kitzsteinhorn, even in winter. Whether with snowshoes or sturdy hiking boots, there are trails of varying difficulty levels, such as the Höhenpromenade on Schmittenhöhe or the 2.2 km circular trail around Plettsaukopf.
Tip: A winter hike along the lakeside promenade around Lake Zell is also a true natural spectacle in winter!
Local Delicacies
Après Ski & Mountain Hut Fun
Anyone who is active in the mountains during winter needs energy! Numerous mountain huts and restaurants cater to the needs of alpine athletes. Popular local dishes like Pinzgauer Kasnockn, Germknödel, apple strudel, Skiwasser, and more are served. After the last run down to the valley, many umbrella bars and local spots offer a fun and cozy way to end the day.
Tip: Our hotel bar is open daily from 6 PM to midnight, offering guests delicious drinks and cocktails in a cozy atmosphere!
